“I am excited to take on this role that supports local health departments as they seek to improve the health and well-being of the communities they serve,” said Silverman.

Washington, DC, October 8, 2021 — Today, the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ Chief Executive Officer, Lori Tremmel Freeman, announced Nicole Silverman as the organization’s new Chief of Programs and Services.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Nicole to NACCHO to lead our organization’s extensive portfolio of public health programs and services,” said Freeman. “Local public health agencies have never been more critical to the health and well-being of our communities than they are today as they continue to address the pandemic while also addressing normal public health challenges. NACCHO’s support of our local health departments has also never been more pressing. Having a strong leader in this crucial role for NACCHO is imperative to ensure we are serving our health departments in every way possible. Nicole’s executive experience will only further advance NACCHO’s partnership with stakeholders and overall efforts to support the work of local health departments.”

Silverman comes to NACCHO most recently after serving as an independent consultant to non-profit and government entities, including the American Society of Nephrology, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, and Compass Pro Bono Consulting.

Prior to private consulting, Silverman worked for the National Quality Forum (NQF) in Washington, DC where she began as the Vice President of Federal Program Management and was promoted twice to become the NQF’s Chief Operating Officer. In her role, she oversaw organizational operations (including membership, meetings, education, HR, IT, communications, and public affairs), finance, revenue generation, and strategic planning.

Throughout her career, Silverman has worked for various healthcare providers, associations, non-profits, and large consulting firms where she had a proven track record of creating and implementing successful programs, products, and services.

Silverman received her BA with honors in Government and American Studies from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She subsequently received her MBA in Healthcare Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

”I am excited to take on this role that supports local health departments as they seek to improve the health and well-being of the communities they serve,” said Silverman.

NACCHO is pleased to fill this important role with a professional with executive-level business experience with national non-profits and other health-related organizations.
