Recognizing that older adults often face unique hurdles during disasters, FEMA has released the Disaster Preparedness Guide for Older Adults, a resource tailored to fit the community’s specific needs.
Designed with usability in mind, the guide features user-friendly formats such as checklists, tools and resources. It also aligns with this year’s FEMA Ready Campaign theme, “Take Control in 1, 2, 3,” highlighting the importance for older adults to prepare by taking three essential steps—assessing needs, creating a plan and engaging support networks.
Caregivers, family members and those invested in the well-being of older adults will find this guide adaptable and indispensable in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of our older adult community members.
