Get Involved with Project Public Health Ready – National Reviewer Recruitment Open!

Jun 14, 2022 | Ashley Vigil

NACCHO is currently recruiting national reviewers for the Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) Fall 2022 Review Cycle. In collaboration with CDC, PPHR is a criteria-based training and recognition program that assesses local health department (LHD) capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies. As part of the PPHR application process, applicants develop their application over the course of nine months and submit their application for national review. NACCHO recruits and trains national reviewers from across the country to assess each application’s level of compliance with PPHR criteria. NACCHO values the expertise and unique experiences of LHD personnel which is why we aim to recruit reviewers from diverse professional backgrounds and geographic locations.

Top Four Reasons Why You Should Be a PPHR National Reviewer:

  • Professional Development Opportunity: As a reviewer, you will have the opportunity to not only share your knowledge and experience with other reviewers, but also learn from other preparedness experts. The PPHR Review Process is intended to be a collaborative experience to learn about innovative practices in local public health preparedness from across the country.
  • Applicant Insight: As a reviewer, you have the unique opportunity to familiarize yourself with the criteria and application process in preparation for your LHD’s application.
  • Network: NACCHO recruits and trains reviewers from a variety of backgrounds and localities, allowing you to expand your network of peers.
  • All-Expenses Paid Travel: As a reviewer, you are required to attend one in-person meeting in October to conduct an in-person review and discussion with your review team. NACCHO will cover all costs related to the in-person meeting including travel, accommodations, and meals. Location is TBD.

Review Process and Timeline

Interested applicants should complete a brief survey by June 30 for consideration. Click here to complete the survey.

Applicants will be notified of the results by the first week of July.

In August, reviewers will attend one reviewer orientation and training webinar and complete an online training assessment.

In September, the review process will begin, and reviewers will be assigned applications and begin working with their review team.

In October, NACCHO will host our national review meeting and reviewers will conduct their team review. In November, any additional evidence required will be identified and communicated with applicants. In December, the 2022 review cycle will conclude with final review calls conducted virtually.
