Encouraging Participation and Cooperation in Contact Tracing: Lessons from Survey Research

Aug 27, 2020 | Kim Rodgers

The Societal Experts Action Network (SEAN), which is housed at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and supported by the National Science Foundation, released a Rapid Expert Consultation report on encouraging participation and cooperation in contact tracing.

The report is aimed at helping decision makers in local public health departments and local governments increase participation and cooperation in contact tracing by drawing on lessons from survey research. Providing advance notice, partnering with trusted sources, offering incentives, and developing messages that appeal to people’s motivations are strategies that have been successful in survey research and could be applied to contact tracing.

View the one-pager for high-level findings and check out the full report for more detailed insights.
